Yes Mav,
we are talking about the same bracket, the engine bars bolt to this assembly where it crosses the front of the bike ( into the rubber mounts in the extreme left and right of your picture).
I had to remove the bolts in question to align the engine bars into the assembly.

My bike had exactly the same issue, one bolt had completely fallen out, I noticed the nose cowl was moving around. Guessing they weren't properly done up when they were built or pdi'd.

Just to be clear, it's the bracket that connects the cowl to the frame:

Another part of my CalSci saga: best customer service ever! I have no idea what happened, but after a long day of riding into a super hard headwind, a crack developed at my bottom right mounting hole. And it quickly spread across the windshield. I have had it for a year. So it is out of warranty. I contacted CalSci. A new replacement windshield is shipped for $100 USD in total. I don't have to send mine back, or even send a pic of the damage. He said (and I quote verbatim) "Texans never lie". It appears that great customer service isn't dead after all.

I greased up the headstock bearings during covid and only tightened the nut 'till I was happy with no movement. So I'll have to revisit here so and torque them up so.
Thank you

Hi Mav,
pretty sure I removed these bolts when I was fitting the Honda crash bar. I remember thinking the crash bars were exerting more load on this bracket, ( it has enough to support already!)
It's possible the last owner was in here and did'nt tighten them up?

I recently noticed that my windshield appeared to be bouncing more than usual when on bumpy roads but the windshield fixing were tight.  Just happened to grab the front end light bar this evening and noticed whole front cowl has movement.

Turns out that I've lost the top bolt from the Upper Cowl Stay and the bottom one is loose!  cowl has never been off as far as I know so surprized that this happened.

Worth a check.

Hi to everyone who took the time to reply to my ‘knocking’ concern.

It seems I should’ve torqued the steering nut up to 40Nm as instructed in my Honda workshop manual.

After replacing the headbearings on my Dullville with no knocking issues after installation, I assumed it would be the same process of tightening up the nut up on the CT.

Moral of that story is….read the manual !
Needless to say, 40Nm’s later, no knocking.

Everydays a school day !
Thank again for everyone’s input.

Nice one. As someone who's useless at making stuff from raw materials, I always admire people's creative projects!  :047:

Photo of tool box. I should have made it a bit deeper.
