I guess quite a lot of the "plumbing" is different when you put a VFR-F engine in a CT frame. Not a job I'd ever be able to tackle!  :005:

Ok, so that's a vfrf engine?

Yep. From an earlier post by Josemar69:

"I'm using the VFR Engine, ECU, Wheels (as well the ABS system and rings), my front suspension forks are hybrid (top from CT and the base from VFR, internal elements from CT)"

I'm sure he can give you the intriguing details, it must be the most unique CT out there.

Thanks for the photos, now I understand what you did, brilliant way to make it all work.

Can I confirm those are the bottom 'knuckles' (axle clamp/caliper mount) from the F model screwed onto the inner (chrome) tubes from the X model (CrossTourer)? Did the X damper assemblies attach to the F lower knuckles/clamps OK?

I understand how all this works, but just trying to confirm what exactly you have done.

How did you cope with the fact that the F forks are spaced 214mm, while the X uses 204mm? The calipers cannot be moved relative to the fork centrelines, so did you have to machine the wheel to bring the discs closer together, or did you find some discs with a suitable offset? Or did you fit fork yokes (triple clamps) with 214mm spacing?

I love this sort of 'mix and match' and been thinking of this sort of conversion for years.

It should be, as it is radial...

Just to clarify, radial does not necessarily mean better, it's just the direction of the axis of the piston/cylinder. Also, it's not. The VFR1200F has radial calipers, but the Master Cylinder is NOT radial, last time I looked anyway.  :002:
