Fit locks to a new key
    on: Nov 13, 2022, 10.01 am

    Hey friends,
I will probably have to replace the ignition switch. I already ordered the part.
I understand that the new key I will get with it will not fit the fuel tank lock and the seat lock.
Is there a way to fit these locks to the new key or will I have to go with two keys from now on?
    Thanks.

Did you lose the key or is it a faulty barrel.

I only ask because I've had problems with my barrel locking and being unable to turn key.

No, I didn't lose the key. Lately there are times that I have to play with the key a bit to get it on.

Yes I had exactly the same fault. I used electrical contact cleaner in an aerosol and it worked perfectly.

I'm not sure it's the same problem. There is no difficulty in turning the key. I turn it to the right and it turns easily but it doesn't always stop at the right point and I have to move it a little to the left or push in to get it to the ON position.

I understand. No mine wouldn't turn at all. I tried the usual things without total success but the electrical contact cleaner seems to have done the trick.
I didn't investigate the cost of new barrels but would imagine it would be high.

My concerns were for nothing.  It turns out that the part I ordered is a set of the main switch, a fuel tank lock and the seat lock.  So no problem.
