    manual transmission neutral light

    Hi,
I know nearly all topics are about DCT's but I have a little issue that started recently on my manual CT.
If I am riding in high gears and change down all the way to 2nd and say stop at a traffic light and then press it down once more, I can't get the neutral light on, I just get a "-" on the dash where the gear indicator is. I must go down into 1st and then click back up to get the green neutral. Anyone else have this issue? will adjustment of the lever help please?

    Thanks
    Tom

    Hi Tom

I have noticed similar issue with my CT, does not happening very often, but sometimes is bit annoying.
It barely happened when was using 10W/30 fully synthetic engine oil, now I'm on semi-synthetic 10W/30 and issues seems to be occurring way more often.

I've seen the "-" at the gear indicator twice on my 2017 model.  Both times after a semi-panic stop when I find myself sitting stopped in a high gear and then shifting down to first.  My theory is that shifting down several gears without any rear wheel movement or clutch engagement caused the issue.  Have never seen it when downshifting normally - one gear at a time, clutch out after each shift.

Twice in 4 years for me, caused by incomplete limp shifts and big boot interference. I just assumed the ECM received a bad signal and didn't know what to display.

    Thank you for the replies.
It is doing it almost every time now, I am being very definite with the gear changes to see if it changes the status on the dash. I have used silkolene 10w30 semi oil for its entire life (2012), so I don't think I am going to change to full synth at this stage ( but it is worth thinking about, thank you Mat28). I will try a clean up of the linkages and a slight adjustment of the rod to see if it makes a difference. When the "-" appears on the dash and I put down the sidestand, it knocks out the engine, so the bike thinks it is in gear and the switch in the sidestand over rules and knocks it out. More to think about...
