Just a very short report on this bike as I’d considered it as a possible replacement for the CT.
Triumph Essex were excellent so a big thank you to Sean, the manager.
He gave me an excellent resume of the bike before I rode it which helped.
The bike pulled away very smoothly in 1st. It has a quick shifter and a blipper which, when you’re not used to them, can be a little awkward. It’s partly my own inexperience with them (my CT is a DCT and my ‘other’ bike is a BMW R1100RS manual). Acceleration was good but the throttle was a little snatchy in the 4K rev area. This might be solve-able with changing ride mode. Brakes were very good. The bike was lighter and far more flickable than the CT. Mirrors were good, display was good, seat was very comfy. The cruise control I’m less convinced about. It certainly wasn’t intuitive but maybe I should RTFM. When I got off the bike I had a go at moving it by hand and it was (as you might expect for 40Kg lighter) very easy to move compared to the CT.
Sean was happy to sharpen his pencil over the price-top man-so a deal can be done.
Problem was……..I got back on the CT. GAME OVER. The CT is just such a joyous, responsive, smooth, glorious monster. I know I need to go to body building classes, or at least tight rope walking class for the balance, but I just f’ing love it.
So the result is, I still haven’t found a replacement for the perfect bike!
