Foglight switch backlight

A question for those with a CT Highlander with OE foglights; does your switch backlight come on when the lamps are turned on, or is it permanently backlit by the bike's lighting circuit?
I've bought an Africa Twin switch which doesn't have the backlight LED but still has the transparent symbol on the button, so I'd like to light it like the CT's version.
Thanks!

I have the original CT switch , it has 3 wires which are +(positive) in and a + out to power the lights and a - ( negative) wire to the led built into the switch , its only visible when switched On . The africa twin switch only has two wires as no led

Thanks KLC. So it's a
"switch is turned on"
LED rather than a
"show where the switch is in the dark"
LED!
I'm considering a dual-purpose LED to show both functions, either with a red/green LED or an RGB.

Keep us updated as a "show where the switch is in the dark" LED would be more useful, as I can see the difference on the road when they're on!
