Hi all,Rob and I are off for a tour next week.It will be interesting to compare his bike-new and std sprung with mine 10k and maxton both ends.We are booked up to Skye but tricky finding rooms without gold plated beds further north-all suggestions welcomed. Will probably get to J of G as he hasnt been there so if you could have a word with the Big Controller to let the midges have a week off it would be appreciated. We aim to cruise gently seeing the sights rather than "fight the road" like the young guns ! No doubt the caravanners will do their best to get in the way anyway so it will be an exercise in chilling.
if anyone is interested its Wetherby-A1 -through the park or up the coast to Berwick on Tweed- then over the border and bridge to Perth -then up the middle via Braemar to Grantown on Spey- across to Skye- then hug the coast to Lochinver and up to the top. Not especially the NC500 but bits of it .

Used both of these a couple of times.

Probably too close to Skye - Poolewe Hotel. IV22 2JX.

    Just below J O'G -  The Norseman Hotel. KW1 4NL

On the way down on the East side there's a Travelodge in Perth, on the A9 that we've used.

We were up there last week, the Highland resort in Fort Augustus has glamping pods which were OK for two- one in a smallish bunk bed. The roads weren't too busy, campers but not many coaches. Lots of average speed cameras on the main routes!
