plates from brake pads

friends, I am just replacing the brake pads with a Nissin 2P308ST but in the old pads I have a plate with holes on one side, which pad should be for a plate and only one or two? there is nothing in the service book about these plates

they are for heat sink to stop brake fade, (so I've read) i dont think they are vital, EBC brake pads i bought don`t have them.

Back in my youth when they were first added behind the pads it was to stop squeal.
No idea how but in particular, you would know when the Z1's didn't have them as they used to squeal like a stuck pig!
