    Radiator removal, coolant quantity sorted

    Hi,
I was doing the big service and a coolant change was on the list. The paint had flaked off both ends of the radiator, it is a common complaint on the CT but it is masked by the plastic trims and can't be seen, also it is made from Alm so no big problem on the rusting side. Also the radiator was well stuffed with flies etc so I removed it.
I know it was discussed recently and Dembones wondered why he could'nt drain all the coolant out of the system, I now see why this is. If you look at the radiator, you will see the flow and return spouts are mounted about half way up the sides, so any coolant below this level will not drain out! I got about .6 of a litre out when I removed the Rad and turned it on its side.
I blew out the fins and painted the ends with etch primer and matt black and refitted it. I had to suck the coolant from the header tank ( not a header tank as its below the radiator level!) as it seems a major job to remove it. I refilled the system and it took almost exactly the quantity the manual said. So happy days. Happy I got all the old coolant out.
    Tom
