GARMIN ZUMO WIRED TO 12V CIG SOCKET?

Hi, I have searched here for an answer but no luck. Is there a solution to this? I have a Garmin Zumo 550 and want to plug it in to the 12v socket adjacent to handlebars but I can't find a suitable connector to allow me to use the Garmin clamp as that hides the USB socket which could be used with a simple 12v plug to USB. Can't see any alternative Nav clamp / mount for the Garmin to allow this. Do I have to hard wire this nav in?

What is the problem with that?
I had the 550 when it just came out and had it for 8 years running directly on the battery.
Since then i had a 395 and now the XT also directly on the battery.
I also leave the device in the cradle when parked in the garage, just turn it off. When you don't use the bike for a longer period just take it off to be sure it doesn't run the battery flat.
Now i have 2 bikes with each their own cradle direct to the battery.
The Zümo's still are boxed with a car mount with a 12V plug to the USB and a opening in the cradle for that USB plug but i doubt if that cradle is suitable for use on a motorcycle.
I can be wrong but i have the feeling it might pop out on a bumpy road.

Thanks for that. I just wanted to avoid hard wiring it to the battery when there is a 12v switched socket right next to the nav unit and then it cuts power when the ignition is switched off meaning no battery drain risk. I may have to wire it in if no other option and as you say the car cradle which does allow the USB to go in, may not hold it on bumpy roads.

Is splicing into the 12v socket an  option or will that mess with the other systems? I'm looking to wire in a sat nav mount and would prefer a switched supply.

I just wired up my Garmin yesterday to one of the empty plugs under the left hand middle cowl.  The bike already had heated grips when I bought it, so it may have had extra wiring installed by the dealer and/or previous owner.

There were 4 empty sockets, all of which were switched on/off by the ignition key. So I used one for the Garmin and one for the dashcam.

Any photos of where the sockets are please?

The usual extension harness (08A00-MGH-640) has three ignition-powered plugs: red, white and black. If one is fitted on your bike it'll be roughly here:
