    Snatchy Throttle Fix

    Hey all!

First time posting, just thought I would share a fix which worked well for me. I have had the same snatchy/jerky throttle response and was unable to find a good solution. The Booster Plug helped a bit, but it caused throttle response issues at mid throttle. I had a spare throttle tube from an XSR700 which I replaced with a Motion Pro tube with a shorter throw for quicker throttle response, and decided to try it on the VFR.

The throttle response has been greatly improved, and is much more stable - especially at low speed! The snatching and jerking when riding over bumps is minimal, and the overall feel is excellent. My wrists and hands even feel more relaxed because I don't have to use as much pressure to hold the throttle steady. I have so much more overall stability and control now.

Yamaha's OEM part number is 1WS-26240-00-00 and is available on Partzilla or from a local Yamaha dealer.

I'm sure another 7/8" bar throttle tube with a longer throw would work as well, as that was the main reason I tried the spare XSR700 tube.

Installing it requires removing the sidecovers to access and loosen the throttle body cables, but the entire process took me 30 minutes - very well worth it.

I hope very much that this helps you as well!

Thanks for the post, I'll certainly be looking further into it a bit later into the year, mine is unbearable. I have lacked the confidence in pursuing some options thus why I have left it as is.

Seems the fix and wording is contrary to the original problem:

“The throttle response has been greatly improved,“

Part of the original problem is the throttle stock setup is too sensitive.  The prior published “fixes” are adding friction, spring tension or dampening to the throttle response as stock it’s too sensitive or over sensitive.

Other aftermarket throttle tubes slow the response.

This new thread  should be added to the already lengthy posts on the snatchy throttle .......so its added to not starting the discussion for scratch.(again).

Don’t worry about it Steve, you encountered a problem, found a fix and posted in an attempt to help other owners. That’s the biggest plus of a forum like this.
Many topics have multiple threads, i dont see it as an issue.  Check out tyres and screens.
New owners come along with different experiences, ideas and solutions.
Sometimes tagging a new post on an old or long thread means the potential solution gets lost.

its all to go with finding files! if you ask for a solution because you have searched, but dont find the topic ,thats not too bad as we all think differently and use different words - ie tires and tyres .I am sure some of our USA members scratch their heads at how we spell things -cheque check through thru etc!
What we need is a  foolproof way of finding answers but as my computer files are all over the place-always mesed up more when you buy a new one- I can't preach!

Very much appreciate you sharing this as an option.  Very clever IMO.
