I found a twin usb power source on flea bay for £6 with a voltmeter, and it comes with a fused lead.I think a "dry" power source could be handy -maybe just to use a phone/gps/ear plug charge point,a compressor, even an electric razor -who knows? Anyway I found a handy plastic "wall" just to the rear of the battery and it was big enough. So a hole is drilled and it's wired in. You "sparkies" will probably shudder but I tee'd off my spotlight fused feed that straight from the battery ,then there is an in line fuse .Hope it doesn't get con-fused!
anyway at least I have a dry power source if the factory fitted one if in use- belt & braces.

If I was you, I would check if USB is draining any current from the battery while ignition is off. Cheap chargers tend to do it, slowly discharging your battery.
Way better set up is circuit with relay fed from any circuit which become live after ignition is on.

I put one in on mine.

When you sit on the bike it is tucked down in front of the tank in the left, inner wall of the fairing.
Absolute _ _ _ _ to fit but, for me, it will be perfect positioning.
Put it down there, as it is going to be used to supply/charge items in my tank bag and as it's out of plain site the illuminated digits don't distract.
It has a water proof rubber cover with a window that allows the voltage to be read once the ignition is on.
