    Can't wait till Tuesday...

...when my 2015 CT (DCT) will be delivered. It has 4.5k miles on the clock and the closest I have got to it is a video. I can 't wait. I'm currently ditching an Electraglide which is definitely the worst bike I have ever owned and nearly put me off biking. I I came to the conclusion that a CT might work for me after a day or so of research during the current lockdown (A big thanks, in particular to Moto N' Joy, the most philosophical biker with the best videos I have seen on this or most other topics. A real find. And I want your portable coffee maker! )  Started off looking at Tiger 1200's and GS's but they just weren't doing it for me. I have had a fair few Tigers in the past. Last one was the Sport,  very different to the 1200. I don't do enough (any?) off-road so I really can't justify a big adventure bike. Half of its purpose would be wasted.  I almost went back to a Tiger Sport  but thought I'd try something different.  I've enjoyed GS's in the past as hire bikes (wonderful in Andalusia) but not enough to buy one. I also enjoyed BM's 1600 beast two-up in Germany for a week or so and was tempted. Possibly my most memorable test bike was a Multistrada but I live by the sea and I just know a Ducati will go the same way as the chrome on my HD. The last Honda I rode was probably a CB500 but I have a 17 year old  S2000 and a Honda marine outboard and they are both incredibly well made, reliable and cope with the sea air. Will report back once I've actually got to ride the CT and let you know if it really is possible to buy the right bike without ever testing it.

Actually, I've just remembered that he last Honda I rode was a Blackbird. I loved it but I don't think I could be trusted on it. I'm hoping the CT won't tempt me to misbehave...too much.

Love your post! My purchase was after a test ride on a new one at a dealer for an hour -and I thought that was brave. But buying without test riding a similar model suggests a great attitude - or supreme stupidity! My first DCT was an NC 750 which was gentle - a bit like having a chicken massala before going into a jalfrezzi - but hey its a Honda so not going to be too shocking .The WORST bike ever was bought by a 5ft nothing lady friend -a 250cc Honda 4 ,with a 16,000 to 18,000 rev band- open the throttle to overtake, count to 3 then hang ON! talk about unsuitable for a 1st bike! harleys? well have ridden 4 now and still don't get it -maybe they only suit polishers?
anyway I am sure you will love the CT and look forward to your report on Tuesday night!

Thanks Bazza. Supremely stupid!  :008: ! We shall see. Basically, not much choice in the matter if one wants to buy a bike at the moment due to lockdown. So definitely incautiously impatient!

i blame the telly! All this cazoo stuff -we have always been able to buy a bike on line and get it delivered -mine was ridden here as the dealers van had a problem -he even took it to local wash before bringing to me ( since then I have learnt about the lack of "mudguards" ).
speaking as a mail order marketeer i assume you know you have the right to cancel etc if its not as expected.I am sure itt will be fine though.look forward to your write up-warts an all!!
