    SW Motech Center Stand Install

I installed a SW Motech center stand onto my 2017 VFR 1200XD. A simple install that took approximately 30 minutes. Most difficult part of installation was stretching the spring, however there are multiple YouTube videos that show how to elongate the spring using coins. In case you are wondering, the Givi bash plate I have installed did not impact the center stand installation.

thanks for that.My 2018 model had a factory stand fitted but its a big lump to get onto it! as I had a new hip I don't want to put too much effort through my right leg.I have tried various lifting points on the bike and favour the pillion footrest frame area so far -but it's not ideal. Any better options available?

I seem to have got used to using the passenger hand hold when I put it on the centre stand, don't know if that's what Honda intended but I haven't found anywhere else on the bike suitable.
Tried using the rear foot rest bracket but if I remember right the angles of it dug into my hand.

@Bazza950. I also struggle with performing the center stand upward lift maneuver. The best and easiest solution I have found is to ride the VFR's rear wheel onto a 2x6 board. I also use a 2x4 board under the side stand to reduce the VFR's lean angle when the rear wheel is on the 2x6 board. The extra height of the 2x6 board reduces the center stand angle which makes lifting the bike onto the center stand much, much easier. I suspect you will not have a lifting issue even with your hip.

thanks Funbobby ,good idea for the garage thanks but not so convenient when out on a run! I remember a folding handle on a K100 BMW years ago that was dead easy to use -mind you I was 30 years younger!

Slightly off topic but as I find the bike a bit on the tall side, when I was looking into lowering it and was trying to work out how much lower would be right for me, I used wood.
I put them under my feet. I had a couple of different thickness's and my grandson obliged by slipping them under my feet.
Next time we went out on a run unbeknown to me and in order to take the p!ss,  he made sure he got to our destination first and as I was pulling up.
He pulled out of his top box the two pieces of wood to go under my feet!!!
