    Hello Folks,

Am I correct in thinking that forum members get 10% discount at Halfords ??

I seem to remember that there was a coupon on here somewhere.  :187:

    Thanks in advance.

    Wack

    Fraid not  :027:

I've seen this on some car based forums a few years ago but not sure they still do it.

If you're NHS you can get 7.5% off with the Blue Light card.

Also if you're an AA member you can get a 10% off voucher:

If you work anywhere that uses tools or you know someone that does you can quite easily get a trade card. Well worth getting one if you can.

Last year i decided to buy a big socket set so had a look on line -and Halfords ,who did a great job fitting a dash cam in my cars  (really neat hard wired for £30)offered loads. But the prices were high.
i couldn't believe how cheap they were on that auction site -but bought thinking I would probably send it back. When it arrived I took it to a mate who is a skilled engineer (works to tenths of a thou!) and he reckoned it was fine for my amateur use.
so sorry halfords for some things -but not others!

As a tradesman myself, the only thing in Halfords is there quality 'profesional' standard tools.
Use to come with an advertised lifetime guarentee, might still have it.

Their other stuff I always compare with others and it usually comes out more expensive.
    I'm about to buy a new battery for the BIRD;

    Halfords £78 ( https://www.halfords.com/search?q=Yuasa+YTX14H-BS+12V+High+Performance+Maintenance+Free+VRLA+Battery )

    MDS Battery £56.95 ( https://www.mdsbattery.co.uk/yuasa-ytx14-bs-motorcycle-battery.html )

I work "On the tools" used to be the case that you bought Snap-on or similar. Now i buy Halfords Advanced or Professional for most of the basic stuff. Lifetime guarantee, any issue, take back to a store and replaced on the spot (providing they have it obviously)

Their large 175 and 200 piece tool sets they have on offer from time to time are pretty much unbeatable for the money. First purchase for many starting out now.

There are some things that i find it better to buy Snap on but it seems you have to battle with the Snap On man these days if theres a problem then wait a few weeks to get the replacement.  There are also some Snap-On products that are absolute rubbish.

Thanks chaps and DE65Y in particular. I’ve bought my tools and stuff from Halfords for years because it’s very convenient plus I have never had any quality problems whatsoever however I didn’t know about this lifetime guarantee thing. My big socket set, one of those 200 piece jobs (that I have used and used and dragged about for probably 10/12 years) is still going strong but the moulded case is knackered and held together with string and tape. Well I’ve just looked online and got a (nearly the same) replacement case for £14.99 with free delivery! Chuffed to bits. Seriously looking forward to swapping everything over when the case arrives.   :152:  without this post I would never have even thought to look.

Oh and by the way yes their tools do carry a lifetime guarantee (as long as you’ve not abused them or done something stupid) which seems fair enough

    Thanks chaps,

So we don't get an Halfords discount because we're forum members, but I have found out that my bike insurance (Bennetts) does (10%, probably justifies the premium).

I also buy tools from the "Professional" range at Halfords, particularly things like torque wrenches and ratchet spanners etc. because they're reasonably priced and decent quality.

    Bye for now.

    Wack
