Decisions decisions -which CT to buy?

so this week i went and visited a forum owner who is selling his underused bike.It was lovely and immaculate but a pre 3 mode TC version so maybe not quite as good.Would i buy it then regret not spending a bit more on the later version.Maybe if you have been there you can advise.
So not wanting to waste his time I stated that I a going to test ride the later version and am in process to sorting that next week.i had a lttle op this week-in an empty hospital where the nurses mostly shuffled their files and looked at screens with little enough to do-they all needed a rest anyway!
So is it to be a 2016 or later - trade in the nice but underpowered NC -or go for the gorgeous early model! Fortunately its a toy and I wont miss the lack of interest if I spent the money rather than save it!

The "main" difference between the pre '16 and post '16 bikes is the adjustable windscreen and if it's a DCT it will have 3 sport settings on the gearbox.
The Traction (torque) control settings are the same (3 settings from '14 on)

Post '16 models gets a 12v socket up front and different heated grips, if the bike has them.

As far as I know there where some slight upgrades on the '14 '15 bikes over the '12 '13 bikes.........better seat and improved software for the DCT and self cancelling indicators.

To answer your question, no, I don't think you'll regret getting the 15 model.  Most 16+ model riders settle for one of the sports modes rather than flicking between them. I have a 15 dct, and the single sport mode suits me fine. It changes gear at the same points in the rev range that I would if it were a manual. And remember, the more throttle you wind on, the greater the response from the dct.

I totally agree with navigator1946, with the power and torque available with that gorgeous v-four engine you seriously don’t need multiple sports modes, just twist that throttle and she’ll fly. :005:

thanks all.I am booked to give a post 15 model a spin this week - can someone have a word and sent the hurricane a different way please? amazing how many bikes seem to have done 3k miles a year from new .I assume the bikes too big and thirsty for most commuters -or do they prefer a different bike?  Really a Crossrunner would have all the power needed but no dct or shaft.Honda are you listening?

Just wait until you roll the throttle through 3 - 4 - 5000rpm in 3rd, 4th and 5th gear with the big V4 and feel the effortless thrust, you won't be too worried about Honda redesigning the 800.

(jaysus.......that sounded like a sales pitch!!)

I'll, eh, lower you to 2000rpm, 2nd or 3rd, big handful. Big farty twin-a-like, never gets old when just wafting about.

Storms? Easy. You will be glad of being on something "substantial" and not some fully faired, narrow barred thing getting blown about like an empty crisp packet. Enjoy.
