    DCT updates

    Hello all,
I’m finally getting off the pot and making moves to acquire a dct model.  I’ve posted an ad in the classifieds part of the forum.

My question here is about the updated dct modes. I’ve have searched and searched the forum but can’t seem to find any info/opinions on if the 2016 updates and the addition of 3 S-modes makes any real world difference?  If I rode the different models back to back would I notice any difference?

My wife rides a 15 CTX700DCT.  I used to own a 16 NC700X DCT, which has the latest iteration of the clutch and software.  There are comparisons to be drawn but the next gen absolutely performs better.  On the VFR the 3 s modes are thoughtfully engineered.  S 3 holds the gears pretty long and is a lot of fun.  The latest iteration seems to be smoother than the previous build as well.  Hope that helps.

Ive never ridden a 3 mode DCT CT but id say, given the choice id try to get the 3 "S" mode version,  more choice on how long it holds gears is going to be a good thing and theres also a few other tweaks that youll see on the 3 mode version that are not on earlier bikes.

Dunno really - latest is probably better but to be honest, I mostly ride mine in manual mode as I always know when I need to change gear (oncoming traffic, junctions, road conditions etc.) better than any auto-choice gear that is effectively blind and only making decisions based upon throttle openning and rev count.
I have the original DCT and I've ridden the new 3S box....both do sometimes have a tendency to change at inappropriate times (leaning around a roundabout springs to mind).
