after 6 years of a DCT NC750 used for long distance touring I can afford a bigger faster bike.A bit concerned about the weight as not a junior but 50 years riding makes me know my limitations! My Honda had complete new Maxton suspension and maybe £2000 in extras added - but only 14k miles as I play in the summer. So any advise appreciated, best model ,things to look out for.Ideally I would prefer to buy from a forum member who wants a loved DCT but  a bit lighter and a pocketful of wodge but have trailer, van and can travel from my "50 miles south of manchester" base. Its a bore to list all the mods on my bike but the 700 forum shows it all!
all posts replied to-thanks in advance

Id go for a 16 onwards bike. Dont trust year of Reg as you probably know. Easy to tell, if its got a lever adjustable screen then its 16 on. The DCT also went to having 3 "S" modes. The only thing id say to check  is the rear shock preload adjuster moves easily as theyre prone to siezing.

    Good luck on your search.

Hi Bazza950. Don't be put off by the weight. Bike has big sturdy grab handles that are positioned exactly where you need them to manhandle it. I have gravel on my drive and have to push the bike out backwards and do a 3 point turn every time I leave, it's not a piece of p but it's very do-able and as you say anyone with bike experience sort of works around stuff like this. I have the DCT, been on it about 3 weeks now and have about 400 miles on it. Very quickly becomes second nature and it's perfect for you if you have left foot issues. It's also got cat like balance, seriously. I was going through a village yesterday and there was a wagon blocking the road reversing into a pub car park. I had to come to a stop and managed to stay feet up for maybe 30 seconds or more just crawling along at much less than walking pace before driving off again. Not had a bike as good as this and I have had a few. I think the DCT really suits this bike. Happy hunting.

Have to agree regarding the disappearance of its weight once on the move and also the exceptional balance of the bike, simply superb.
Called into our local Kawasaki dealers Chris Walkers today and they’ve got a stunning 400 miler for sale.

many thanks for the advice.I love the DCT and although my NC has it the choice of mode is "D for Docile" or "S for Spritely" -you couldn't call it sport! Mine is a 2014 model which is fine but later have 3 stages -and ofcource more is better! I thought I had done with +1000cc bikes as even a 600 can do double the speed limit but for a relaxed ride "yer cant beat cubes" as our us cousins say. So its gotta be an adjustable screen model -but I reckon an £8k limit for a toy -or £5k and mine swopped!

thanks for that .Yes i love my DCT -like the auto box in my car - manual is a retro step unless you are a "boy racer" and love to see the red line/mist!  Reckon a £8k limit and as no rush can wait for a deal in the snow or some poor sod selling to eat.
