ok guys just found after the exhaust had been removed, i popped it off the centre stand and the stand has guillotined the abs wire because there was no stopper , would this stop the gear change ?
    thanks

It shouldn't be. Would be kind of strange when you have a problem with the ABS you can't ride at all. ABS is a safety feature and not a necessary one.

The gearbox would need to know how fast the bike was travelling. I know sometimes a faulty wheel speed sensor can put a car auto box into limp mode.

Geez.  That is nuts.  Is this the part you are looking for; 38510-MGH-H21  ?  If so, it is about 150 USD shipped here.   Happy to ship it over if it makes sense for you.  I am not sure if Revzilla.com ships internationally but they have very good prices and outstanding customer service.   Reasonable prices on parts.
