    Good mornig all,

I already downloaded the full service manual on internet and I use it all the time for the maintenance of my CT 1200 XD

I can't find any infos about CAM CHAINS maintenance ou CAM CHAIN TENSIONNERS exchange or maintenance schedule.

I've found only how to setup the CAM CHAIN TENSIONER

Do I have to understand that the chains are for the life of the motorbike ?

Thanks for your help and take care

    Regards from France
    Bruno.

For life depends on too much different factors but it's not a serviceable part.
In the VFR VTEC the tensioner was a bit of a weak spot and had to be changed mostly somewhere between 40 and 80k km.
In de 1200's they used another kind of tensioner (i think it's the same as in the Pan European) witch is much more durable and should be lasting between long and a lifetime.
Every product knows it's monday morning monsters as we call is in The Netherlands witch means that it's more bad luck if you have a faulty cam chain tensioner in a CT or the bike has a lot of miles covered. And with that i mean a LOT.

Thanks a lot Ray for your fast reply ... I fully agree ... and I think I have time because the mileage of my CT is only 28000 km ;-)

Slow down.........Pan European  ( ST1300) had gear drive cams.....no cam chain, no cam chain tensioners.

    Just checked it.
ST1300 does have a cam chain and therefore also a tensioner but it's a different one than the VFR1200's
    ST1300

    VFR1200

    Your correct.........my mistake.

I was thinking of the balance shaft gear noise adjustment when I made the mistake.
