well while on lock down decided to check the oil in the shaft drive , all is good i thought  , then looked on the manual , says it needed to be checked on the side stand :005: which i didn't do  :789: so i will check it right this time. undoing the filler cap bolt it only went and broke  :745:
so here is the funny part  :047: new is £34.00 British pounds delivered  :005:
the torque for the new one is 8nm , my torque wrench wont set that low,so whats 8nm by hand  :821:

The best solution is to buy a torque wrench, another solution is a rudimentary instrument like this:

8Nm is very little. The biggest problem is the size of the nut according to the torque value, i made the same mistake once :034:
Tighten it by hand and then a tiny bit with a wrench holding the wrench with your thumb at the cap preventing too much force.
It's just to give al little resistant on the o-ring witch will seal it and keep is tight.

By hand could be plus or minus £34.00

I would buy a torque wrench off Amazon fit the plug and then sent it back for a refund :164:

This final drive oil check on the side stand vs center stand ( bike level and vertical) has been discussed before:

     https://www.crosstourer.com/index.php?topic=6498.0

I go with center stand check level not on the side stand.  Think the 2017 shop manual is missing steps and has errors.
