Hello everybody!! I've been looking at adventure bikes for a while. A good friend of mine told me about this bike. I really like the looks of it!! It reminds of a BMW GSA ( not trying to upset anybody). Is it comparable to a GSA? Iam new to this CT 1200 X. Any and all info appreciated!! :031: :031: Thank you!!

Hi Pcoz88 and  :400: to the colleCTive.  :028:
In answer to your “does it compare” question...... NOOOOOOOOOOO  :789:
it’s nothing like the GSA, it’s a totally different riding experience.
For a start the CT will ALWAYS get you to your destination  :008:
After over 60k miles it will still sound sweet and ride smooth and not a bag of nails.  :008:
And it will ALWAYS spend more times on the road and not on the back of a recovery vehicle.  :005:
So, as to whether you’ve made the right choice ......you most certainly have, enjoy your new CT.  :788:

    Thank you Dave 56!!

I was meaning as to comparing off road ability . Not that it will be off road a lot but it will be a bit. I know Honda is reliable . I haven't bought a CT yet just doing my research. Question do they make this bike anymore?? Haven 't seen any 2020 models. All you tube videos are months or many years  old. Thanks again.

Hi there Picoz88, as far as I know they regrettably no longer produce the CT.
One thing I would definitely recommend is that if possible you take a lengthy test ride, especially the DCT variant, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
Also in the U.K. there are some outstanding deals to be had on any remaining stock of new CT’s so hopefully it’s the same in the US.  :028:

More likely than not Honda does not have market share in this arena. BMW, KTM, yamaha tenere and others. Honda's Gold Wing is their flagship MC and that is where there money is spent. The CT is a great bike I have 24 k miles on mine and am thrilled when I ride it.

Thanks for the replys.  Maybe it would compete with the African twin in sales. Still is the CT off road ability like the GSA?

In the U.K. the CT attracted unfavourable press reports, which when you see the advertising budgets of both BMW and KTM that hardly comes as any surprise and this is despite the well documented reliability issues with both BMW and KTM.
To be fare though the CT was never going to compete on the “electronic gizmo” front and it does suffer weight and budget suspension issues.
I also feel that Honda should take some responsibility when initially marketing the CT as an “Adventure” bike when it should have gone down the touring route.
We also have to take into effect the huge amount of resources Honda put into the Africa Twin at the detriment of the CT.
It’s obvious that those who are lucky enough to own a CT tend to love them and we in the U.K. did attempt to put across too Honda a couple of years ago when we organised a (tongue in cheek) World Crosstourer meeting which Honda sent a film unit to record the event (see link below), but all seemed to fall on deaf ears, had a great weekend though.
