Check Your Spoke Torque

5.5 nm or 4.1 ftLbs.  Remember to skip two or three in your sequence and never more than a 1/4 turn on any one spoke at any one time.  Quick job and can save you some premature wear on your tires.

What kind of tool should you use for this?

Something similar to this.  Anything that will accept the bit and torque at 4.1 pounds.

I just bought an inch lb torque wrench, 49.2 in-lb of tq. I will check this since I can't ride for a few more months, I'll give the bike a once over. What is the torque sequence on the spokes as not to take the wheel out of true?

Nothing in the manual that I see.  But, from reliable sources who I trust, every other or 1 3  6 9, then 2 5 8 11 after you arrive back at the first spoke.  Honestly, with 4.1 pounds, and the composition of that rim, I do not think that level of torque could even come close to putting it out of round.  A big BUT here... I reached out for advice because I did not know enough about it and that is what my bike building buddies have told me...so I could be talking out of my hindside.   I was surprised by the inconsistency in teh torque before I adjusted.  Another but...these small torque wrenches can vary from 1 to 5 % unless you spend a fortune on a rarely used tool.

Dave, I just picked up on "can't ride for a few more months." Is everything okay?

Chemo, it seems my side effects have manifested themselves as severe muscle spasms, especially in my legs and shoulders. Until I am through this I don't trust myself on the bike. I will end up dropping it at a light or lose control of one of my arms while riding. Ill just play with the bike in the garage until April. Thanks for the sequence info, Ill just set the wrench to 50 inlb and cycle the wheel several times.
