Need a pair of boots soon...

    Hey Guys

I have read thru some of the tyre topics but some are quite old now so I am bringing it up again...

I have Michelin Pilot Road 5s on my 14 Crosstourer that are on the way out, I have had a respectable 9500 miles from the rear and the front was on when I bought it but I don't rate the grip at all, I am constantly slipping and dipping, anywhere that isnt a nice road and that is in the dry, roundabouts, white lines etc are a nightmare...

I constantly see the same couple of tyre names bandied about? Is that the best we can do because of the wheel size and I just have to put up with it?

I do not want to go off road ever, it is more of a nightmare than an adventure, the bike is far to heavy for that.

I want a road sports tyre that grips and gives decent mileage, is that too much to ask?

What about Conti Attacks? had them on a bike in the past and they were good or the Roadsmart 3s profile looks half sporty...

Anything else out there worth a look for a UK based rider???

I really enjoyed the Roadsmart 3s. had quite a few sets, but not on the Crosstourer

The other option which I have had and enjoyed on the CT was the Trailsmart 3 Max, enjoyed then for a few sets before I sold it. I was about to change to A41s for a try.

I dont mind adventure tyres on an adventure bike, neither are really off road

9500 from Road 5s? really? im not doubting what youre saying but im nearly at 5 on a pair of them and theyre about dead. I know we all ride differently but that mileage really does surprise me.
That said what i find a bigger shock as that you dont rate the grip. This is an area where ive found the 5s the best tyres ive had fitted to the CT.

Never ceases to amaze me how different folks can feel about different tyres.

It is actually more than that as I had the rear on for about 1000 before I went on my current trip and the front was on the bike before I bought it, I am gonna do another 1000 this week and then change them...

I have Road 5 Trails on my CT, I go to the wear marks before I change any tyre and I am nearly there on both tyres now.

14,000 miles on the front and nearly 11,000 miles on the rear, I have just done a 10,000 trip so a lot of it was motorway/A road cruising at 90, there wasn't much grip after 5000 miles as the bike was top heavy with full luggage one up, checked pressures regularly.

Have looked around and everybody agrees they are the best tyre about right now so we just have to put up with them till something sportier with good wear emerges.

Have spoken to my tyre supplier today Watlings in Catford and they want £280 fully fitted from bike for the pair, haven't got any in stock as he says they are the most popular tyre for the CTs...

SIDI.....   I have three pairs for different conditions, with my motocross boots being 6 years old.  They are worth the investment.

Perhaps first read what somebody is really asking? Instead of just shouting into space,

    .....but USA isnt it?  :745:
