30mm Lowering kit

Hi all,
I'm about to fit a 30mm lowering kit, but I'm unable to find a difinitive guide on the amount to lower the front by.  A mechanic friend of mine stated quite firmly that to retain the bikes geometry it should be the same at the front.  Anyone know the correct amount, bit nervous about getting it wrong.

Hi Bill,
I've been searching and read loads of different opinions.
I've been thinking about the comments made by my mechanic friend.

I'm currently stuck on the following, without a definitive answer.
If the front of a bike is lowered to make the bike trun quicker, then lowering the back will make it turn slower?

If the above statement is true then I beleive a safer approach would be to lower the front a little less a try it.
By dropping the whole bike front and back by 30mm, I will have effectively shortened the wheelbase, therefore making it turn quicker, so less at the front will compensate.

In my porrly informed opinion.

Sorry Bumble but I am not that tech savvy but I do no that a friend of mine had his done new (37000 miles approx. now)  at our excellent dealership and the front was lowered by 10mm and I am fairly certain that the rear was lowered 20mm as advised. However he did shorten the side stand and centre stand (an engineer metal/worker by trade) to accommodate the drop in height. His height is about 5 foot 10. He is cautious rider with moderate speed and he has had no problems whatsoever with the bikes handling.

I dont know the definitive answer but when I lowered my rear by 20mm I lowered the front by 12mm

it was brilliant, no issues what so ever, turned well and stable as ever

After reading sooooo much on Geometery, apart from a Headache, I'm going to lower the front by 20mm.
