Wednesday 17th CT service a belated 32.000 mile service

Hi all . My 65 plate CT goes in tomorrow for it’s 32.000 mile service with all fluids changed and spark plugs the price is around £900 pounds had to take on credit card
to pay for it and there was more than a hint that it may take more than day that means as my shift patterns means having to wait to Sunday to pick it up plus a train journey that could take 90 mins but I only live 13 miles away from the Dearler I got talked in to a loan bike as  they are not keen for on me hanging around a CB500 or a NC  750 I opted for the CB500 instead .

Big old bill that but we all know that a dealer 32k is going to be a little eye watering.

I’d always be suspicious of a dealer that could do the “big” service in a day. Valve clearances should be done cold so you’d have to wonder if they’d been done correctly or at all.

Mate once said to me “don’t you think it’s odd that you can book your bike in for valve clearance check and have it done in just over a day but if you need but a shim the dealer needs to order it in?”

Hi Hartley. I plan to leave home about 0.6.30 it’s about 25 mins ride so I hoping by the time they open that’s about 08.30 the engine should be getting close to cold plan to leave early if I wake up early after doing my 18.30 to to 23.00 hours night shift thinking if the engine is near cold no time is lost in waiting for a cold engine to work on that’s my thinking.
P.S  Hartley I am still not enjoying my new suspension and have remained on factory settings having so much fun Oh what joy this is all the best.

I recently bought a CT that had done 15500 miles. The previous owner had the 16k sercice done plus new pads. £722 labour alone. Think the final bill was £1,025.

I would have thought that having spent £900 on a service Firefox the very least the dealer could do for you is to deliver the bike back to your home, especially as its only 13 miles away.  :027:

in every bike i have owned , i have always changed the oil and filter  every 3000 miles ,
changed the fluids when they looked a bit grubby , never once have i spend money on a valve check .
fjr 85000 miles when i swapped it  for a pan 1300 , 72000 miles later and swapped it for my crosstourer bought at 1600 miles, supposedly had the first check done.
i may be cynical but i have a feeling theses jobs don't get done at the service, so i never book the bikes in for them i just ride.
    just me  :431:
