Thanks. Last week I actually ordered an Ampmeter with a mini fuse connector to measure the Amps going through the fuse but your idea is worth pursuing also

Unfortunately that won’t help much.  We already know the amp draw is well above the fuse rating from the instant blow and the spark snap.   Direct short the amp draw is 20-30 amps and the exact amp is irrelevant.

An ammeter with leads are typically rated at 10-20 amps.  So connect the meter to a shorted circuit will blow the internal fuse in the ammeter or fry the meter.   If you purchased an inductive DC Ammeter a loop of wire in place of the fuse would cause harness damage as the fuse that is blowing is bypassed.

yes I understand the dangers of using a loop and wont be using that method. I have already gone through about 20 10A fuses trying to resolve this issue. In the interim I have placed an order for a resettable fuse and will use this in order to assist me in tracking down the short.

I may have found the problem. I got under the tank to check the harness and the connectors and I noticed one wire was was bare and exposed. The wire it connected to on the other side of the connector block is the White/Green.
