    Hi, from Somerset

Hi all, :158: just got back from the dealers. I have bought a 2013 CT, Highlander spec. Picking it up sometime next week. It's done 15500 miles so is close to the dreaded 16k service. Last couple of days trawled through all the should I shouldn't I, posts on here about valve inspections and as it is a Ducati / Harley dealer decided to see what discount I could get because it would need doing. Rang my local Honda dealer yesterday and they quoted around £700 plus extra if they needed adjustment. I figured nobody would spend £700 on a service 500 miles early and then sell the bike. How wrong I was, 16k service done at Honda main dealer 2 years ago with all documentation present and bike has only done 100 miles since. My main bargaining tool was gone but they still gave me £100 more trade in than I was hoping for so all good. The 16k service was done 2 years ago as I said and cost £722.
Wow that was a long first post, now off the trawl the forum for some more info and hope to be able to contribute in the future.

:400: McVicar and safe riding  :305: I think that service price was a bit OTT.

So do I. I had decided to either source a local independant to do the work or leave the valve inspection all together. Nice for peace of mind that it has been done though. Thanks for the welcome.

Was your new purchase from Riders in Bridgy ?,  if so, I saw the bike two weeks ago.
You'll love it by the way.

Give me a shout if you fancy a ride out in the South west,  I'm only down  Exeter way.

Yeah, that's the one. Will take you up on a ride out soon. Picking the bike up next week then off to Scotland for a week on the Sunday. Should know the bike well after that.

I mean this in the most polite manner possible.  You folks on the other side of the pond seem to have quite a bit of time off.  Or perhaps remote work arrangements (as I do).  Are you allowed substantially more time away from work than your American counterparts?  I think I'd move there if that is the case!

Welcome by the way!  And enjoy the new machine!  Ride safely.

    Mike

The average working week is 37 hours, I do 45 hours  :110:. Most people get between 20 and 25 days holiday + 8 days bank holiday , which include Christmas,  new years day, Easter etc (public holidays).

Most people don't work Saturday & Sunday.

I think we do better than your average over in the USA.
