    Alternator Cover Repair

Hi Everyone.  The alternator cover on my 2016  has several tabs on the perimeter to accept screws for other parts, particularly the lower cowl.  One of those tabs has broken off.  It appears to be cast aluminum (aluminium for my counterparties across the pond!).  The cover is 204.00.  So, I am looking for an adhesive/epoxy option.  It won't need a ton of tensile strength.  In any case, any luck with epoxies for aluminum here on the forum?

If it were me I would either get it welded or by new. Not sure how much a weld jobe would be, and then refinish the bolt hole and face if cover.

Have you tried these guys. I have bough thousands of dollars of parts through them and never disappointed.

Brad.  Thank you for the link.  I have purchased from Partzilla.  Top notch outfit.  The cover appears to be cast aluminum.  I am finding yes and no answers on the web about welding it.  any insight if it can be done?  It is a pretty tight space too.

I'd buy new too.  And I may at some point.  But I am buying a Corbin, new tires, and maybe a new suspension.  So the Chief Financial officer might get a little uppity if you know what I mean.

EDIT  there is no compromise to the cover as it relates to maintaining the seal on the alternator.   It is just a tab.

To weld it it would need to come off. Plus a new gasket

I used the J B weld, original, slow setting two-part adhesive on the cast aluminum tab.  I know it is not the proper way to address the issue long term.  However, it worked.  I was able to torque the screw after it set.   The cover is cast aluminum.
