hi all, i am picking up a 2014 dct on saturday so thought i would join this group for advice and tips, in a way i wish i didnt as theres lots of posts about rear shock bushings, seized shock adjusters, driveshaft problems and seized rear brake !
but in general its probably not as bad as it seems on here, my bike only has 10k miles on it so hopefully i can lube/fix these common faults before they get to bad.
really looking forward to the dct gearbox !

:400: to the group I know when you look at some of the post on here you may think
     what have I done .
I had my manual CT for over three years apart from replacing all the usual parts and so far it’s being one dipped head light bulb The CT is a very reliable bike all shafts where replaced by Honda ALL of  them the V4 is a brilliant engine so should have not that many things to go wrong I have covered over 30.000 miles plus.

By all of them do you mean every vfr1200x will have been changed ?
Did they fit an updated driveshaft ?

    Hi Whiteakita

There was an official recall and an updated shaft fitted so I’d be very surprised if it hasn’t been done.

Seized bushes is a new one on me. I’ve had two CTs first did 21K current one on nearly 20k, not had thT issue.

Rear shock adjuster is quite common, I had a replacement on my first CT under warranty, new one had a new adjuster to try to correct the issue.

Ok, some people have had problems but I think you’ll find that they are pretty few and far between, if you want scary reading check out the GS and Triumph forums.

Hi there whiteakita and  :400: along to the colleCTive.  :028:
As has previously been mentioned all shafts should have been replaced so just need to check with Honda.
If I’m correct the only shaft failures where very very few and on only very high mileage bikes.
The CT is an extremely reliable motorcycle and will give you thousands of trouble free miles - unlike some GS’s and Explorers.  :164:

my only gripe coming from a fjr1300 and a pan european 1300 is .... bloody freezing in winter, but if you have high temps its very cooling , would brilliant in spain type places.
