Low front garden bike shed/box for Crosstourer?
« on: March 15, 2019, 09:09:28 AM »
Having moved house recently and no longer having a garage, I'm having to park my CT behind our hedge with an Oxford cover over it. This isn't ideal for security and weather protection along with the faff of getting the cover on/off with it's clips so it doesn't blow off etc.

I've been looking at bike sheds however they are all too big and will look unsightly on the drive/front garden (plus there's the issue of whether you need planning permission as we live in an area where there are rules around changing the look of the property at the front).

What I'd really like (but haven't found one yet) is a box the height and length of the CT which you open one end of, then open the top, ride the CT in, close the top and side, lock it and all done. Kind of like those wooden cargo boxes but with hinges on for ease of opening the top and side.

Anyone know of anything like this? I'm thinking that by keeping it low it'll stay hidden behind the hedge.

You could build one!? It would make a good ‘How to’ thread on here. :028:

I guess I could (and might have to if I can't find anything suitable), however the whole house needs renovating/decorating and we have our first baby on the way in less than 2 months so I've kinda got my hands full!  :008:

Shame your not closer, I'd have helped you build one. I managed a 4 stable, tack room and hay store on my own a few years ago.

Put "Motorcycle Shelter" into Google and see what comes up. I got one for my son in laws Integra and its perfect for the job. He commutes into london every day so when he gets home he just wants to get the bike under cover and have it easy to get out next morning. Its on the front drive and is a lot better than the cover he used to have which was always blowing away. Its in North Kent so if you want to see it PM me. You may need the next size up, depends on your screen and topbox if fitted.
