$100USD / hr is the going rate in the States.  You are going to get soaked for any dealer service.  Best to take to an independent or do it yourself.

Fair point Dembones but in the UK the CT comes with a 3 year warrenty which requires the dealer service history be maintained.

Now i know someone will reply about the regulations that state that the vehicle does not have to go to a main dealer to maintain the warrenty as long as OEM service parts are used.  I believe this was part of something called "Block exemption" and is well known of for cars. Ive looked into this a great deal and i failed to find anything that stated these rules also applied to bikes.

It's illegal for a dealer to deny your warranty coverage simply because you had routine maintenance or repairs performed by someone else. Routine maintenance often includes oil changes, tire rotations, belt replacement, fluid checks and flushes, new brake pads, and inspections.

An independent mechanic, a retail chain shop, or even you yourself can do routine maintenance and repairs on your vehicle. In fact, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act makes it illegal for manufacturers or dealers to claim that your warranty is void or to deny coverage under your warranty simply because someone other than the dealer did the work. The manufacturer or dealer can, however, require consumers to use select repair facilities if the repair services are provided to consumers free of charge under the warranty.

I see you are distancing yourselves from the EU already Hartley! :008:

About €160 euro here for an oil and filter change on a car in a main dealer  ( Toyota ,Kia, Nissan ). Much the same for a bike.

My 24,000 mile service was about £170, and I think its the same work as the 8,000 (oil change & kick the tyres!)

The 16,000 and 32,000 services are valve checks, so you'll need a mortgage for those, so best get saving.  Like you, I do all my own servicing post-warranty, and my warranty has just expired, so I can get back to fifty-quid all-in services again!

Cheers,

Jon
