    Service Intervals ?

Without checking in my manual... I assume service intervals are 4000 miles ?
Done 11300 and shortly due for MOT so maybe worth 12000 mile service now as I'm off to Spain later this year and will probably clock up 1500 mile trip. ?

service schedule says 0.6 mile then 8,000 miles then 16,000 miles (valve inspection) but i am pretty sure you need an annual one if you are not doing the mileages

That's correct Ian, even if changing oil and filter every 4k miles (not scheduled but IMO recommended) would not do any arm to the bike  :305:

Probably a little more to the wallet  :034:

These V4's don't get a regular top-up of fresh oil to freshen up the old stuff like lesser engineered engines do  :164:

PS. i have a pic of the schedule but couldn't get it to post up last night, i have asked this before but why oh why can't the forum shrink any files that are too big to a 'postable' size AUTOMATICALLY  :174: :173: :157: :192:

I was just having a sly 'dig' at the other main brands of bike that seem to need a litre of top-up oil every couple of thousand miles. Its like as though they were made in the 70's when engines were made with much wider  manufacturing tolerances that ensured an engine burned some oil every thousand miles and was expected to do so.

I have owned many many honda's and have rarely needed to top-up the oil level in between oil changes (and i don't do it every 4,000 miles as mentioned above either  :033: )

BMW boxer engine with liquid cooling should have less mechanical tolerance, therefore they should burn less oil.
I agree though, japs don’t need topping up in general ;)
