    Hand Guards for DCT 2012

I want to replace the OEM handguards with larger and stronger ones. Was thinking of Barkbusters. But the suggested hardware kit for the CT says it is for the non DCT version.:

    http://barkbusters.net/products/wishlist/3498-bhg-046/

Has anyone fitted them to a DCT? If so what bracket/ modifications do you need?
Also is there another brand that makes a handguard that will fit the DCT?

    Thanks in advance..

I can only see there being a problem if the Barkbuster inner mount clashes with the handbrake position, could it be moved out of the way?

It seems size matters    :005:  see the forum trail on Honda changing the handle batrs size and Barkbusters can sort this out.

Seems Honda have increased the tube size recently.

I put the bark busters (bought them from reseller here in Finland) on my early DCT model. Meant for Honda Crosstourer, no mention regarding DCT. Had problems with handbrake and front brake reservoir, also because I have raisers and have tilted my handle bars a bit..

Took a bit of thinking, and I managed to put them on. Had to dremel off the bracket for the original hand guards in the left hand side (the "hand brake") and rearrange cables and brake hose a bit. Been there for a year now, no problems.

Thanks for the replies guys.  Sounds like a lot of work to get them on :003:
I have emailed Barkbusters and also Chainspeed to see if they have a solution.
I will update what they come back with.

    Hi McGrath

Worth the effort and from other emails Barkbusters have been helpfull, if you look at the damage the RH one of mine took after a 25 MPH slide down the road after being knocked off by a herd of deer, I wonder if I would have had any fingers left if it was the OEM protectors..... :110:

Eat Vernison too many deer on the roads.

I replaced the OEM protectors with SW-Motech Kobra hand guards, they are the Barkbuster units, just re-branded for SW-Motech and the plastic cover is a tiny bit different.

Installation was tricky, but I eventually got it sorted out, this is on my 2016 DCT.
These protectors are FAR superior to the OEM Honda units, better weather protection and they have an aluminium back-bone that would not shatter like an all plastic unit.

    Hope this helps

Hi Tazmool, thanks for the input. Are your handlebars the thicker ones on the new bikes?
