Makes no difference in engine oil selection.

John, thanks for the update. Let us know your thoughts after the Texas trip.

Been a while since I have been here on the site....

Yeah, I have stuck with my 'Franken-blend' of 50% T6 Rotella 5w40 synthetic and 50% T4 Rotella 15w40 conventional.

I am using it in all my bikes and the wife's bikes: CT, KTM 950, BMW Sertao, Versys and KLX

Love the semi blend with all full JASO certs.

Not to wake up a sleeping controversy, but... :164:

I went to wal mart last month to buy oil. I grabbed My Mobil-1 T4 10w40 off the shelf as always, 4 quarts. When I got home I had 2 quarts of T4 10/40 and 2 quarts of Mobil-1 V Twin 20/50. My fault for not looking closer. I put in the 2 quarts of 10/40 and topped off with the 20/50. It shifts like butter, is smooth and quiet and I like it. Ill be doing this from now on. Its probably still closer to a 10/40 than a 15/45 but it shouldnt shear as quick and stay in grade longer.

I had 5 litres of (a quality brand) new 10w/40 semi synth in the garage that I didn't want to go to waste (Correct spec JASO etc) so put that in. Seems absolutely fine, maybe ever so slightly quieter running (less mechanical noise). I have read through this and many other oil threads TBH and they are all the same. Many understandably stick to recommended weight only, many don't over think it, many do (me for one). It only seems to really matter if you happen to live in a very hot or very cold country where temperature extreme's are found.

I'd be putting it in if it was sitting in my shed, Id use it for my summer service due to the hotter temps here in Australia the 40 grade is just a bit nicer in the heat. For me the brand makes a bigger difference in quality than grade.
PS i loved all those baby oil gags.
At 62 years and now retired my GSXR had become increasingly more uncomfortable on my rides, buying the Crosstourer is a better fit to my retired body. Absolutely love it, although the transition from sports bike to soft and smooth will take a while to adopt to.

I had about 2 litres of  Motul 10W/40 fully synthetic oil sitting in my garage, also bought original Honda 10W/40 semi-synthetic oil.
Mixed them together, bike is running with no issues, the only difference is that gears are changing smoother.
