There is speeding ( a bit ) and there is going for it

Bikers made the news here in Norfolk -- 5 of them caught on the Norwich bypass doing 140 + . Now this is bad news for all bikers and tends to set the public against us as being not law-abiding as a whole . Two things about this story interest me , they were caught not by a speed gun , but by a police bike !!! ( poss a VFR1200F  , unmarked ?????) which had to go to speeds of 157 mph to catch them - now how dangerous was that !! if the police bike was going at that extreme speed to catch them , was he ( she) looking out for other road users , What roads do the police train on to ride at 157mph ???
    Makes you wonder

Thats one of the reasons I got rid of my 1200F! to easy to get to those speeds, but if anyone can handle it at those speeds it's a Police Motorcyclist! I love following them for a while, then they cant resist showing off.....and can see everything your doing at the same time  :018:

Will be interesting to see what the punishment will be for the 5 concerned, it seems strange that the sentencing has been postponed for so long, while I wish them no ill will, because lets face it we all exceed the speed limit by some degree. However, even though I am/was a trained driver/rider travelling at those speeds on most roads is just too risky.

With reference to the skill of police motorcyclists, about 6 years ago I did a Cambridgeshire Bike Safe course which culminated in a one to one observed ride with a police motorcyclists.
Once I’d got use to initially being followed by a police bike I have to say it was one of THE best experiences and rides I’ve had on two wheels, the skill of those guys is in my humble opinion unsurpassed and there ability to pass on those skills, even over a short period is excellent.
I learnt as much during that course than I had over the previous 30 years of riding and would highly recommend a Bike Safe course to anyone, despite how many years you may have been on two wheels.
