Fancy visiting the Southern 100 races in July 2018?

For the past few years I've visited the Isle of Man for the Southern 100 road races in July and I've already booked for next year. If anyone from this site would like to join me, I would be happy to welcome you. Briefly you book your own ferry to and from the island to suit your own time away. Accommodation is available at £30 per night for B&B in single rooms at King William's College in Castletown and you book direct with the College. Look up the college contact details on Google. Similarly the dates for the race meeting are on line..  This is brief as I'm on my mobile and away from home just now. I can post more info from my computer next week. Just post a reply if you want more!!

Hmmmmm it's early July with Armoy later in the month, it's food for thought this one!!!!! are the ferry prices more sensible at that time of year compared to the TT?

This looks OK if you want to ferry from Liverpool......https://www.southern100.com/index.php/component/k2/item/489-official-southern-100-travel-partner-unveils-2018-packages

I've paid £133 outward from Heysham on Monday and return to Liverpool Sunday. Bike and rider. I booked on the day the fares were released in October.   Ferries get block booked up by travel agents so it could be worth enquiring online for any deals. Otherwise it means a late night or other unpopular boat.

Which site did you use for the ferry?

Sorry for delay.  I bought my ticket from the Steam Packet website :
www.steam-packet.com  There are a number of agents who also offer tickets and I would search them on Google if you have certain times you want to travel.

Just to update info about the trip.

I organised a similar trip this year for my colleagues in West Yorks Advanced Motorcyclists. Each person made their own ferry and accommodation bookings to suit their own circumstances.

Most of us stayed at King William's College, enjoyed breakfast together each day but then "did our own thing" for the rest of the time.  One couple stayed in Douglas where they took an apartment for a few days, than joined us for occasional evening meals, usually taken in Castletown, a walk from the college.  Just like on holiday, days were not organised. Some walked, some brought trails bikes and went on the many lanes and unmade roads across the island.  The only organised event was a 80 mile round the island ride at the start of the week to see some of the sights away from the TT course, places that folk might like to come back to see later on their own.  Even that was optional.  Next year, there may well be some other WYAMs members staying.  Some bikers from Hull and East Riding Advanced Motorcyclists will be coming with me.  But the College is a big place and there's room for all.  They let the students rooms when the college is closed for the summer.  They also have rooms for the Classic TT if you're interested.

The Southern 100 race meeting will be held around the Billown circuit on Tuesday 10th, and Wednesday 11th evenings and all day on Thursday 12th July 2018.  Practice and qualifying is on Monday evening, 9th July.

All I ask is that you keep me in the loop if you intend to come.  I'm happy to answer any questions on here.

    Martin
