:027: can anyone point me in the right direction with this one please, when I had the fog light on I plugged in a tyre  inflatter and they went off. I have checked the aux fuse 3amp and it's ok.  :440: what's the next place? Could it be a relay? Any ideas please

    Hi Jamesd,
Did you get sorted with the fuse?
If there is a 3amp fuse behind the left panel front it has been fitted by someone and not oem Honda.I assume they fitted a cigarette lighter socket to charge a phone or power a sat nav when they fitted the fog lamps? and this is where you plugged in the tyre inflater?
Are the fog lights 2 x 55watt halogens or are they LED's?
You'll need to look under the seat at the main fuses to see if any are blown there, its most likely as the tyre inflater pulls big current and was too much for the fuse.
Its possible the (someone before you) protected the fog lights with a 3 amp fuse after the cigarette lighter socket and that's why it has not blown.

    2 x 55 watt lamps =110watt = approx 10amps
    2 x 16 watt LED lamps = 32watt = approx 3 amps
    tyre inflater = approx 130 watt = approx 11amps.
    Hope this helps
    Tom

    Thanks Tom

It is Oem part, Honda fog lights are plugged into the loom on the highlander.

I have checked the fuse at the switch and all fuses under the seat so thought it could be a relay or something, don't know where to look next

    Cheers

    Hi James,
when you look into the main fuse box, looking at the bank of 9 fuses , the 2nd one from the front is a 10amp marked "acc". I think this controls the socket/ harness behind the left hand fairing panel.
Is the cigarette lighter a oem item on the highlander also? ( I have the first edition 2012 so I'm not familiar). Is it positioned at the dash area and tapped off the same harness plug as the fogs?
There must be another in line fuse somewhere that you missed, cigarette sockets are normally fused at 10 amps so you blew it with the inflater.
When you say you checked the fuse at the switch, is there a fuse behind the switch on the facia and another fuse behind the left hand panel?
And are the fogs 2 x 55 watt halogens?

    Thanks Tom

On the highlander the 12v accessory socket as standard, I have the 2016 model.

The fog lights and 12v socket are on the same harness and fused with 3amp fuse under the fog switch under the left front panel. Their is another fuse as you say on the fuse block under the seat.

I have checked both fuses and they are both fine. Don't know if there is another inline fuse anywhere and looking at a schematic of electric I can't find any.

There must be a fuse somewhere. The 12v has max 5amp warning sticker but I am amazed at a 3amp under the panel running fog lights and 5amp 12v socket.

I'm lost to tell you the truth

Hope I have explained it better

    Cheers

:046: sussed it Tom, I traced the loop back to the fuse box under the seat, so I took out the fuse that looked ok but when I tested it the fuse failed, replaced the fuse and bang they came on
