    Radiator warning

I picked up a radiator leak recently. No noticeable damage to front of the core. Ihave done 83 000km's on my Crosstourer. all services done on schedule.

The cause of the problem is that the fan housing was ever so slightly worn at its attachment point and was vibrating and rubbing against the core of the radiator. The leak was fixed with off the shelve epoxy and washers at attachment points provided the necessary spacing to prevent re-occurrence. A quick and cheap fix. The difficult part is taking the radiator off and re-installing it.

This repair has been holding for many thousands of km's. Hope this helps someone in the same situation.

A suggestion. If the bike is approaching mid 70 000kms, have the fan mountings checked for movement and spacing during a service.

I have a new 2017 vfr 1200x with 1000mi., rode into town today about 10mi. and stopped at store and went inside, came back out and water dripping from radiator. I'm about a mile from dealership. Rode to dealership they took bike inside and checked it out, said the fan was rubbing radiator and rubbed a hole in it. We will see how this goes.
