I got finally about 650 miles on my "veefer" and called the dealer i got it from to have the 1st service done in order to keep the 1 year warranty....

The guy at the service told me its going to cost about 260$ does that sound right? Any other US VFR owners? I just cant justify why...

The warranty is not dependent upon your dealer doing the first service. For the $260 I would expect them to check the valves lash and adjust if necessary. Mostly the first service is a thorough check of functions, fasteners, fluids (including oil and filter change). For the long term you should buy a shop manual and do these things for the savings, peace of mind and thrill of discovery. Keep records and receipts of parts (only Honda parts in case of a warranty claim). If you are uncomfortable with the major service you might want the shop to do that one. Look in your owner's manual for the list of items to inspect, adjust and replace at the designated miles or kilometers to see what they do for the money. Where I worked we pushed the first service on all new bike sales because it can find problems but it is a good money flow.

i'm just ignorant when it comes to V4 engines and what to check on both my previous bikes (ninja 1000 2012 and Gixxer 1000 2004) i always did the services my self except the valve one. The warranty in usa its a joke.. 1 year? and they wanted me to purchase a 2000$ extended warranty for 5 years coverage which i did not... Kawasaki had 2 or 3 years and Suzuki (that was in Greece) had 2.

I agree with LongRanger, changing oil on the vfr 1200x is a easy job. It tells you how to do it in the owners manual. Oil and filter change is about all that is done on 600mi. service. Save yourself 200 dollars and warranty will be good, just keep a record.

Is yours a DCT bike?  They have another oil change for that system at the 600mile maint.  Most of the cost is the labor time of those two jobs and that amount sounds close to what I paid.

My first service was $120.  DCT uses a little more oil and has a second filter no big change
The valve adjustment looks challenging a lot of stuff has to come apart.  I was quoted $600 for the check.  The service program actually looks pretty good
Bikes are like women.  What you want and what you think you want change after the first ride.

Yeah that seems steep for the manual.  Other than oil/filter, the only other item on the list is adjustment of the idle but that is pretty basic stuff.  Maybe your dealer has a list of "recommended" additional checks and additives that are inflating the price like is commonly done for cars.  Just ask for the price on the required oil/filter and idle adjustment and see what they come back with.
