    Hey All,

So i picked up my out of the crate new 16 VFR1200x (US name) this past Saturday, already put 400 miles and getting ready for the 1st service which i will do it at the dealership that i got the bike from. After that i think i can do more of the services since i have all the required tools and my brother in-law is a moto mechanic, also does not help that dealerships in NY are a little TOO expensive! I always used 10w-40 full synthetic oils on my previous motorcycles, all in-line 4. I know what the manual suggests as an oil but i'm a little confused on what i should use since i like to ride the hell out of the bike! Any help is greatly appreciated.

:400: to the group I am from the UK the oils for UK is SAE 10W-30 JASO
T 903 standard MA in specifications in hand book I take it they don't offer a service
Deal in the UK it's £575 up front, for 4 services working on the CT is not easy so let them your do your first service then show your brother in law he may think oh dear in the UK a 16000 miles service is between £600- £800 pounds does this reflect in USD hope this helps who service's your CT having your book stamped in long term or ask on the forum for UK costs for the other services and compare in US dollars

I spoke with the dealer and the only service i have to get is the 1st one to keep the warranty, now the thing here in USA is that they do not offer a service package, or else i would have taken it for peace of mind, they only offer an extended 5 year warranty that if you read it thoroughly does not cover much!

For peace of mind I have done just under 16000 which is the main service so depending how miles you cover each year the 8000 is change oil and filter clean and check and replace ie brake pads if necessary so you have two years to save would your honda dealer offer you set up monthly payment to of set the cost of the service if you read all the posts about CT you find the CT is a very reliable bike if don't ask you don't recive.

The thing is that i don't do that many miles, i live in NY where the weather is pretty much 6 months winter and 6 months spring! and because of my job and wife my riding is limited to a sunday... for example my last bike which i had for 4 full years i trade it in for the veefer with 9600 miles

OK I see where you are coming from then you should have 3-4 of cheap biking as not much should go wrong as you may not make 16000 miles any time soon I will say after a few miles it will just say ride me you say Ok let's go some where don't be surprised if clock up more than 10.000 miles in 3 years not 4 years you see the sun's up let's go girl.
