    AA recovery today

My crosstourer has let me down today on the way to work  :003:  at first I noticed a power drop of then it started to misfiring then the engine was dead. All the warning lights came on but when I tried to restar the battery was almost flat and could not crank the engine over enough to start. AA man came out and tried a jump start, it cranked over but will not fire up at all. I have removed the battery and have it on charge. Has anybody experienced this problem before. Any help appreciated.

A warning - bike batteries do give up all of a sudden , My CT is 5 years old now , had no issues with starting ( see various posts on keeping battery charged  :028: ) but they do tend to fail most during the winter months , Anyway I started mine up , left in on tickover for a good few minutes , got on and  rode 50 meters s up road , I stopped to speak to a neighbour , Bike died and wouldn`t restart - a new battery was the  only cure

Although not a motorcycle, the wife's car broke down last year and it was the battery, sudden death, with no prior symptoms. RAC test showed 1 cell only useless. Fitted new battery no further problems. Incidentally he also said that they were not allowed to jump start vehicles due to an explosion risk following one incident where this occurred.

Did the AA run a diagnostic test on the battery first?

Okay thank you for the help and advice, battery changed but still no go, it cranks over a treat now but still no sign of it firing up, but I did notice a new noise for under the tank, so up came the tank to find the TP sensor/ Throttle valve motor is make a most percular noise (a bit like the old fax sending sound) so I am completely stumped now . any ideas.  :003: :003:

They all make that noise. You'll find the noise changes when you twist the throttle (without the engine running). I assume it's to do with the "throttle by wire" but stand to be corrected. Either way, highly unlikely to be the root of the problem.

Is the bike under warranty? Have you contacted a Honda dealer or spoken with a Honda mechanic?
