Gear broke down, Non-DCT 2012 CT

    Hi

A frightening metal grinding noise from the gear during a ride when changing 3rd-->4th gear ended up with my CT being stripped out of its engine and gear.
Gear had been dis-assembled and broken teeth and massive erosion and degradation had been found.

The ENTIRE gear has to be replaced, including the forks and drum  :159:  . Only the parts are accumulating to more than $1500 ! work/service is yet to be determined, but will be of the same magnitude.

    I am attaching photos.

That is very upsetting and frustrating.

Been working on many different engines for over 15 years, including a lot of transmission work and I find it unbelievable.
Never ever seen even one case where you need to change everything - what is the reason of this?

That is bad, feel for you with that damage and cost. Definitely find out as much as you can and pass on the info to veeefour and the forum.

Surely it would be better to go for a 2nd hand engine, rather than repair this one.
