    '2017' vs. '2016'?
    on: May 06, 2017, 09.32 am

As I've said elsewhere, I'm thinking of moving from 'F' to 'X' and I've got some questions:

What are the differences between the 2017 and 2016 model?  Is there actually a '2017' model?

I understand that the '17 has a new screen, with a height adjustment lever, or did the new screen also appear on '16 bikes?

Is this the only difference, '17 vs. '16, or are there others?

And, as I've asked elsewhere, when did v3 of DCT first appear?  Is this the version with three sport modes and incline / lean awareness?  Or did earlier versions have those things?

Most dealer websites seem outdated / confused, and often show the 'old' model (old screen) and, possibly, old colours - it's difficult to tell what colours actually are available for new bikes now.  And Honda's own sites aren't much use (never have been) for comparisons (actually I think Honda UK's own site is worse than some dealers', for providing information).

    Thanks!

16 model year bike was the first with lever adjustment for screen, power socket near front of tank,  DCT went to 3 "S" modes and the Red over Black paint scheme.

This model "apparently" sold out around September ,but is now available as the 17 model year.  :084:
I'm not aware of any change from official 16 to 17 bike.

However , oddly,  if you now by a 17 Highlander it no longer has spotlights?

:0461: with Hartley. Not aware of any other differences

Honda seem to be gradually eroding the spec of the Highlander (but not the price!).

Screen with adjustment lever, and last version of the DCT first appeared on the Crosstourer of 2016 model year. No, earlier versions didn't had any of those. As far as I know, 2016 and 2017 model years of Crosstourer only differs in colors. 2016 has an AWESOME dark red with black special painting scheme with engine covers painted in black. While 2017 is red with engine covers in gray, making it look like an older (pre-2016) models.

Just to add my tuppence worth, both bikes pictured here are 2017 colours, the red/black is highlander only special edition, where as the red one is non highlander Spec, it also comes in fridge white.

The red and black was available in 16 , well the early part anyway. I had ordered and paid a deposit for one of these for delivery last September, my order was then cancelled by Honda UK 3 days before delivery.
Reason given is that there were no more left, though it'd been in stock when my bike was ordered.

The black and red was the first Euro4 compliant CT. Miraculously come early 2017 they were available again.

This is my gut feeling on this, I have no proof.   Honda decided to stop selling the black and red version ( Euro 4) and push the 2015 and earlier bikes that they still had in stock. A dealer explained to me that there are penalties for manufactures that registered non euro 4 bikes after Jan.

I think the black and red ones being sold maybe Honda 16 models that are in stock from 2016. There are no differences between them and 17 spec CTs that I'm aware of.

I was told by several dealers that only the all red and white bikes would be built in 2017.  This is why I took the deal and bought the silver and black 15 bike I have now.
