    Hello All,

I'm planning a few days travelling the west coast of the Emerald Isle later this year. If anyone has any useful recommendations of places to stay - pubs with rooms type of places, I would be very grateful for your input.

Also, if you have any suggestions of places that I really shouldn't miss, or routes that really do need to be ridden, please feel free to suggest those too.

Many thanks to all who respond.

    Happy riding and stay safe.

    Wack

Hi wack, dont miss out on the Connor pass heading over to Dingle.
Dingle Bay hotel at the far end of the bay was very good, nice food and a great place to stay as its a bit away from town, only a couple of hundred yards, but just enough to be quiet.
Area is beautiful, roads are great, people are even better, very friendly.
Do the Atlantic coast road as well, its scenery is amazing, you may even see a dolphin or 2 if you believe the locals.
Wife and i went over and stayed with her relatives in Donegal, then going on Blackbird for a tour, weather was so bad her uncle blocked the drive with his tractor, told us we where taking his car,( a new Freelander) as the weather was going to be extreme, am i glad he did this, the weather was horrendous, we still did our tour, driving through torrents coming down hill towards us on the Connor pass was worth having the wipers any day.
    I'm envious of you.
You must try the Guinness, its totally different over there.
    Enjoy the place.

Hi Wack, my wife and I drove the entire length of the Wild Atlantic Way last August, :006: there is no end of quality places to stay and towns to visit. Accommodation seems far more accessible in Ireland than the UK.

    Hello colngezsct,

I'm going towards the end of August, do you think I should book accommodation before I go, or do you think that basic digs, pubs with rooms etc are sufficiently plentiful to just wing it ??   :261:

Thanks to everyone for their comments.

Well mate, if a couple of simple Aussies can do it... The only trouble we had throughout 7 weeks was on the long weekend holidays in southern England and Bath and during the weekend of the All Ireland Hurling Final in Dublin. Great range of digs available and very friendly too. We loved the chowder in the pubs. Enjoy, I wish I was back there. :821:

    Hello marcopol,

We're getting the Cairnryan to Larne crossing on a Thursday morning (10.30am I think, docking at 12.30pm), and catching it back on the following Tuesday.

Our plan is to blast down to Cork on the first day (Thursday) and then meander back up the west coast  :305: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, aiming for about 200-250 miles per day. Getting back to Cairnryan for the 13.30 ferry on the Tuesday.

    Bye for now.
