Figured I better post up since I've been into a couple threads.  I sold the GS, Wee, and DRZ to convince the wife I needed a new bike.

Just bought a 2016.  I think it's the only one ever sold in TX (well almost).  Very happy so far, it seems nice and well rounded.  The DCT is the bomb.

So far I've added Givi Trekker Outback cases, 42l tail and 48l sides.  I do have Givi bars which apparently require cutting the DCT cover.  But at less than $20 for the cover no biggie there.  So that's it so far.

I kept some bits off all of them, so will be installing a fuse block gear pig tails, charger, lights, GPS......

But heated grips, center stand, hugger yet to come, maybe a throttle tamer and Kaoko....
Bikes are like women.  What you want and what you think you want change after the first ride.

Givi bars are compatible with DCT. It is not necessary to cut the DCT cover.
