Did a similar journey on my CT couple of years ago, but kept going to the Southern tip of Greece mainland, travelling back via ferry over to Italy. I agree great trip, great bike:)

I've been holding off on this thread.

Firstly, the OP is very lucky have the chance to do such a wonderful tour with his wife  :047: :020:

However, the heading of the post got me confused. I thought it might have been a question for feedback on which bike might be seen as the best touring bike, but it seems it was saying the CT was the best tourer. Sorry, I can't agree with that. It's not bad at the job, but just reading posts on this forum point towards it not be the best at all. The CT needs so many tweaks (seat, screen, shock, luggage) to make it suitable for many to go even relatively short rides (100-200 miles).
Of course everyone is allowed their opinion, but sometimes I think people get a 'new toy' and it's the best thing since sliced loaf.
I've decided to keep my CT for now simply because it is paid for and is quite reliable. It does nothing really well and I struggle to think it would have any 'best in class' characteristics...apart from maybe the engine which I think is very good.
What do you mean it's raining....get ootside and ride the thing.

Over the last 9 years We have been on long tours on a Triumph Trophy 900, VFR800fi, Crossrunner, Super Tenere, and Crosstourer.

The most comfortable ride was the Trophy, being an out and out tourer with full fairing and a big carrying capacity with the Triumph luggage. The VFR was a struggle. Crossrunner was great, but just that little bit too small. The S10 was good, but the vibration of the twin got more noticeable as the trip went on. The best all round ride of the lot was/is the CT, so I'll be keeping this one longer than most.

As you say slomogadgie, everybody is allowed an opinion, and we all see things differently, but the CT for me is a great bike for touring.
