    Exhaust Mount
    on: Jan 20, 2017, 12.00 am

I have just been cleaning up my CT and some other fettling (more later), especially cleaning the exhaust.
I think it has been off when the suspension was swapped.
Could one (or more) of you kind people have a quick look to see if the exhaust mounts on the inside or outside of the bracket?

On the outside of the bracket Marty, the bolthead is also on the outside with dome nut on the inside, plain washers on both the bolthead and dome nut, I've just had mine off and on,  :028:

Martymouse, my humble apologies, I told you wrong,  :431:, if you have'nt already realized the muffler bracket goes on the INSIDE of the bike frame, I've just today looked at 2 X/Ts in a main dealers, I somehow confused myself whilst fitting a Leo Vince  muffler which does go on the outside of the frame,  :112:
So your std' muffler bracket goes on the INSIDE of the bike frame. I'm old and confused.  :087:

Funnily I was going to politely query Mondeoman's advice ... and now TuiSo.
I was looking for something else on the Honda bike parts site and sneaked a look at the exploded drawing for the exhaust because the inside position felt more natural and looked better.
I think the diagram here answers my own question (that's just lazy for you ... I should have made more of an effort!!)
    If you look here https://www.bike-parts-honda.com/pieces-honda-detail-72723-72723-VFR1200XD-2013-F_27-CROSSTOURER+1200.html
The exhaust mounts on the inside.
I remember Ian at Bill Smith's pointing this out previously and he said it was a common mistake - I just couldn't remember which was right.
That's senility for you - join the club!! :187:
