    Advice please guys.....

Just in the process of fitting one of these to the cockpit area of the Crosstourer......,

My question is, does the unit draw power ONLY when being used with USB device plugged in and therefore able to be connected to battery, or permanently, due to whatever drops the voltage and therefore likely to flatten battery during periods of bike non use?
    Regards, Dave

Hi Jumper, i dont know the answer, but, could you use a multi meter to see if there is any draw on the unit.  :084:
I always thought that if you fed straight to the battery via an inline fuse then it only worked if ignition was on.  :027:
If there is nothing plugged in then surely it can not take power out.
Please anyone correct me if im wrong and i do guarantee to bit someones head off just because they know more than me, because that aint hard. ha.  :028:

Hi Pistn, Thanks,  that was going to be my next step...... my thinking though is 'something' must be working to alter the 12v battery supply down to the 5v USB supply.......

Everything a bit complicated at the moment because of postcancer treatment meds being taken and fudging the brain  :087: :087:

As long as it doesnt have an led light on it or other power drawing indicator, it should not draw power when nothing is left plugged in.

I have mine wired directly to the battery. No LED then no power drain.
In fact my USB charger has a cigarette lighter socket attached to it also which I use to trickle charge the bike if it is not going to be used for extended periods.

Ok, a bit of an update....... connected the USB sockets direct to battery and, as suspected, even though there is no green led on my socket, I get a drain of 25ma with nothing plugged in so therefore, over a considerable period, I will be flattening the battery. So my quest for a switched 12v under the seat continues......seen I post where the feed to the rear brake light switch is used, but on mine, I can't locate the bloody switch lol!
    Regards, Dave
