EXTENDED WARRANTY . . . is it worth it ?
on: October 14, 2015, 08:56:21 PM
My CT will be three years old in May 2016, at which point I am seriously considering paying final balance of my PCP deal and keeping it. . . having just recently taken early retirement do not want future monthly payments. . . is it worth paying for further two years warranty (£495) which includes roadside assistance for two years (incl.european).

If you do Europe, then I would say yes. You are getting the cover for most things bike related going wrong. I have been in the position of both, once my mate had serious problems with his bike, RAC got it back home no messing. Another year, another mate had a big problem, with no break-down cover, it totally wrecked the trip, we spent that much time trying to fix the bike (couldn't sort it), going here and there for this bit and that bit. In the end the bike had to stay at a hotel we had stayed in. Then he had to get a van and go and get his bike after we had got home, need I go on. For me £500 for 2 years is a gift.

I have taken it out as mine turned 3 in July and didn't want to get rid, so peace of mind for another 2 years then I'll decide what to do then.

For me no. Never have, never will, for anything.

Finish paying for bike in May or June. I keep my bikes for ages. It's one of the reasons I bought a Honda.

For me, extended warranties are for the few folk that keep their BM's and KTBooms past factory warranty .... and do so out of experience and necessity!😆

I had my CB1300 for 7 years and had no extended warranty, because I have a DCT is really the only reason why I have gone for it.

If its roadside assistance that will appease you then why don't you try and get it covered with the bike's insurer. I'm with Carole Nash and have it as part of a package, used it once in France and was happy with the service, its very little extra money.
I think you should read the extended warranty carefully, it sometimes reduces the cover to the main components only and can be of marginal benefit.
Thetrecker. Sometimes your the bug and sometimes your the windshield.

Yep, I got roadside and recovery with my insurance.
The extended warranty is no way near as good as a new bike warranty.

attached is a screen capture of the covered parts.
